Oliver Poida started playing piano at age 5 under Hans Janowicz in Portland. During high school he attended the Lübeck Music Academy in Germany. The following year he won the Oregon State Solo Competition for piano. He returned to Germany to continue his college studies at the Munich Academy of Music under Margarita Höhenrieder. Unfortunately he injured his hand and was unable to pursue a solo career. He finished his BA in Music at the University of Oregon under Dean Kramer. While at the university, he performed Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand with the University Orchestra.
Oliver has accompanied extensively in the Portland area. He was the main pianist for St. Pius X Church in Cedar Mill. This is his first season playing for Satori Mens Chorus. He also has a very successful teaching studio with prize winners in Oregon Music Teacher Association competitions. Oliver is also an active adjudicator across the state for various piano student events. He lives with his wife Natalia and his 4 year old daughter Sofia in North Portland.
